Barite production involves the extraction of natural ore (barium sulfate, BaSO₄), its crushing, gravitational or flotation enrichment, and fine grinding into a concentrate or powder. The main characteristic of the mineral is its high density (up to 4.5 g/cm³) combined with chemical inertness, which makes it the primary weighting agent for drilling fluids.
